Renowned Turkish producer and director Osman Sınav’s film “Uzun Hikaye” (A Long Story) was screened on June 23 as part of the Skopje Summer Festival, organized in the Macedonian capital.

The screening of the film, held in Sulu Han in the city’s historic bazaar, drew great interest. Sınav, who was also present during the gala screening, said, “Just like its title, this film is the one that I had been waiting for a long time and it is the most perfect film of my professional life. Because artists feel the lack of something in every work they create. I felt the same but ‘Uzun Hikaye’ is perfect for me and it is the story of a Balkan character in Anatolia. It starts from Istanbul and continues through the railways in Anatolia.

We have tried to show the warmth of Balkan people in the film. I hope we succeeded in it.”

Sınav said that although he was very curious about the Balkans, it was his first time in Skopje, adding that it had been a “lost” time for him. “I am also in love with Bosnia. I was there right after the war and did some shooting there. I was there last year, too. I am working with a Bosnian writer friend of mine and I hope that I will make a film about it. The Balkans is the place our ancestors chose as mainland. We need to come here more often.”
