Gallery grave found in Mardin ‘unique’ in the world

Drop in dam water levels reveals ancient village (Diyarbakir)

An ancient village in southeastern Turkey was revealed on Dec. 19 when the gate of a dam broke, leading to a drop in water level. 
The gate of Dicle Dam in the Diyarbakır province was opened on Dec. 13 to drain excess rainwater that had filled in. Workers were unable to shut it after it broke.

Van Lake Express emerges as an ‘alternative’ to Eastern Express in Turkey

The Van Lake Express is now an alternative to the popular Eastern Express, after travelers have been finding it increasingly difficult to find a seat on the latter.
“The scenery is magnificent, especially during wintertime. The [Van Lake] Express can contribute significantly to regional tourism. It is important that people see the natural beauties along the route,” Yunus Emre Akdeniz, a university student, who traveled on the Lake Van Express, was quoted as saying by Anadolu Agency.
