L'Œil Urbain 2016 expose du 1er avril au 23 mai à Corbeil-Essonnes "D'où vient ce bruit à l'horizon?", mon travail sur le quartier louche et attachant de Tarlabaşı (Istanbul) qui est bouleversé, tout comme ses habitants, par un projet de gentrification.
Le samedi, 2 avril est la journée des visites des expositions en compagnie des photographes. Elle se conclut par un vernissage à 19h. Women’s film festival in Istanbul to focus on ‘solidarity’

The 14th edition of the International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival on Wheels, which aims to increase the involvement of women in cinema and the media, will be held between March 12 and 20 in Istanbul. 

The theme of this year’s festival is “Women’s Solidarity Keeps Women Alive,” said festival consultant Alin Taşçıyan at a press conference on March 3. 

“Some 300 films applied to be part of the festival this year. We wanted to include films from Turkey and abroad in the festival program and we watched these films for many days and nights. It was really hard to leave out some of these films from the program. Women are making very good films and we selected them not just because they are made by women but they are very good films,” Taşçıyan said.

This year the festival will screen over 70 films in 30 languages, as well as featuring workshops, panels and talks. 

As part of the festival, the “Purple Camera Promising Female Filmmaker Award” and the “Golden Okra Award,” which challenges traditional perceptions of women in popular Turkish cinema, will also be presented. 

After Istanbul, the festival move on to Adana, Hatay, Van, İzmir, Bodrum and Mardin. 

Saskia Diesing’s “Nena,” Violeta Barca Fontana’s “Color Thief,” Darine Hotait’s “I Say Dust,” Vivian Papageorgiou’s “Inner Land,” Remedios Crespo’s “Flexibility,” Silvana Ceschi and Arnulfo González’s “Irına in Wonderland,” Anna Muylaert’s “Second Mother,” Kim Longinotto’s “Dreamcatcher,” Natalya Kudryashova’s “Piooner Heroes” and Nayla al Khaja’s “The Neighbor” are among the films due to be screened.

Istanbul snowfall breaks 28-year record

The heavy snowfall that has been paralyzing Istanbul over the past three days has broken a 28-year record in the city, according to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

On Feb. 19, the snow reached heights of 75 cm in the Çatalca district, in the westernmost region of greater Istanbul. In more central neighborhoods, such as Beşiktaş, Şişli and Kadıköy, the snow depth was measured at 20-32 cm.

In March 1987, 63 cm of snow was measured in Istanbul, marking a winter that many of the city’s residents still remember.

The record snowfall has paralyzed many areas of the city, and many locals took to social media to complain that the 1987 snow storm did not wreck Istanbul to the same extent, despite the fact that it had hit the city for a longer period of time.

The municipality has stressed that it is on “alert” with 4,815 personnel and 1,028 vehicles to keep to the roads open. 

“Our teams used 18,543 tons of salt and 926 tons of [chemical] solution to keep the roads open,” a municipality statement said, adding that 437 homeless people have been taken into shelters to be provided with food and hot drinks. The shelters are also used by citizens stuck on the roads during the storm.

Scores of traffic accidents have occurred throughout the city, with one tram derailing in the Topkapı neighborhood and a broken power line halting traffic for hours in Avcılar on Feb. 19.

Some 189 trees have been upended in several neighborhoods over the past two days, the municipality also stated.

Bibliopole festival opens in Üsküdar

The first Üsküdar Bibliopole Festival in Üsküdar Square’s Ramadan Tent presents rare newspapers, magazines, posters, books and maps printed in the Ottoman era. The festival has been organized in collaboration with Istanbul’s Üsküdar Municipality and the Bibliopole Association.

Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen said nearly 40 bibliopoles would meet readers for 15 days during the festival. He also said they hope to create a bibliopole bazaar in Üsküdar. 

Türkmen said that the Ottoman-era works presented in the festival would be easily accessible to all those who arrive. “Among them are literary works including Servet-i Fünun, Sırat-ı Müstakim and Sebilü’r Reşat,” he said. 

“There are also maps of old Istanbul and Ottoman resource books that have not been translated yet, plaques printed in the Ottoman era, used postcards from 1900s and handwritten documents and letters,” he added.

The festival will continue until Sept. 14.

CRR to host violinists during a mini festival

La même nuit, mettra en vedette CAKA étoiles concert. Le deuxième jour du festival violon formateur Rodney Friend donnera une formation "de maître". Plus tard, ami, Amnon Weinstein, Şenol Aydın, Aşkın et Hakan Şensoy tiendra un discours sur l'importance du violon. Le festival se terminera le 21 février avec le "Four Seasons à Istanbul et Violons du monde" concert.

Eminönü's Yeni Valide Sultan Mosque celebrates 350th anniversary

Feb. 8, 1664. The Yeni Valide Sultan Mosque in Eminönü was officially opened for Friday prayers with a grand ceremony. Sultan Mehmed IV and Grand Vizier Fazıl Ahmed Paşa, as well as Valide Hatice Turhan Sultan and government officials, all participated. The Ottomans loved ceremonies and parades.

Les trois religions céléstes au coeur d'un défilé de mode à Istanbul

Les couleurs et les lignes des trois religions célestes ont été présentés lors
 du “Défilé des civilisations” à Istanbul.

Les symboles, couleurs, les styles des trois
religions célestes ont été représentés 
sur les vêtements.

M. Savaş Uğurlu, dirigeant de la société 
de production Medyadoktoru, a annoncé au 
cours de son allocution qu’ils allaient faire
connaitre le défilé tant dans les autres départements en Turquie qu’à l’étranger.

Chaque religion est présentée avec 20 créations, tandis que le 61ème est celle propre à la ville où est accueillie l’exposition, a ajouté  M. Uğurlu.

Le lancement du défilé a eu lieu à Istanbul, qui est le point de rencontre des trois religions.

A Istanbul, la 61^ème création était un modèle portant les symboles de la tulipe, avec une couronne sur laquelle était représenté le symbole du croissant et de l’étoile.

La collection qui renferme les traits des 
cultures et des civilisations distinctes, 
a dévoilé les motifs, les couleurs, les 
gnes, des groupes de croyance du 
passé et de nos jours.

A gate at its simplest is an opening in some sort of an enclosure – a wall or a fence. It can be very plain or very ornamental such as the earliest known ceremonial Gate of Ishtar, an elegant structure created by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II in 575 BC. Certainly all fortresses and fortified cities had gates that could be opened or closed as circumstances warranted. The bigger the settlement, the more important it became to have larger walls and more gates. Such building required a central authority able to command the manpower needed to build such constructions and a reason to create such protection. Palisades or stake walls such as the ancient Greeks and Romans constructed might have been useful for short term defense against small forces but would hardly helped against a large enemy force.

André Rieu a envoûté Istanbul

L’illustre musicien André Rieu s’est produit à Istanbul... où il a envoûté les spectateurs par une représentation exceptionnelle et inoubliable. 

André Rieu est considéré être l’un des musiciens notoires de ce siècle par les autorités de la musique.

Les Stambouliotes ont montré un vif intérêt au concert de l’artiste. Les billets ont été vendus des mois à l’avance.

11.000 mélomanes ont rempli la salle de sport Sinan Erdem.

André Rieu a été accompagné par l’Orchestre Johann Strauss, de renommée mondiale.

L’artiste, roi de la Valse, a préparé des surprises aux mélomanes ; il a interprété des chansons en turc et a dansé sur scène.

Le ministre des affaires européennes Egemen Bağış, les artistes et les spectateurs venus le suivre ont applaudi debout André Rieu à la fin du concert.

Une exposition de 60 œuvres de Joan Miró, considéré comme l'un des artistes les plus importants du 20e siècle, se tient à Mimar Sinan d'Istanbul Université des Beaux-Arts de Tophane-i Amire Culture et Arts Center jusqu'au 19 janvier.Comme indiqué dans le communiqué de presse de l'exposition: "Tout au long de sa longue carrière, aller à la matière de Miró avait été papier. Il a tenu une certaine fascination pour toutes ses variations. Sa production créative d'utiliser du papier continu est apparu que des travaux de production manifestant des idées audacieuses. Papier, en bref, est devenu le premier matériau pour le style personnel unique de Miró. "Au cours de ses premières expérimentations, Miró lithographies de transcender l'espace visuel dans le domaine poétique, et il a vu le papier comme un outil qui a élargi les frontières de l'art traditionnel. Cependant, il a été constamment ramené à la réalité par les tragédies de la guerre. Pendant ce temps, il a essayé de surmonter le pessimisme qui imprègne son travail à travers une langue évasion de symboles qu'il applique sur le papier. "Miró à Istanbul" est ouvert tous les jours jusqu'à 19 heures

Bahattin Öztuncay'ın küratörlüğünü üstlendiği ve Ömer M. Koç koleksiyonundan Robertson'a ait orijinal fotoğraf ve suluboya eserlerin yer aldığı sergi, 2 Şubat'a dek AnaMed'de. 'Robertson, Osmanlı Başkentinde Fotoğrafçı ve Hakkâk' başlığını taşıyan sergide, 1813-1888 yılları arasında yaşamış, Darphane-i Amire'nin başhakkağı ve fotoğraf sanatçısı James Robertson'ın 40 yıl boyunca hizmet verdiği darphanedeki faaliyetlerinin yanı sıra, suluboya ve fotoğraf çalışmalarından da örnekler görülebilir. 19. yüzyıl fotoğraf sanatının önemli isimleri arasında yer alan ve mesleki eğitimini Londra Kraliyet Darphanesi'nde tamamlayan Robertson, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun başkentinde 40 yıl boyunca, Sultan Abdülmecid ve Sultan Abdülaziz dâhil olmak üzere dört Osmanlı sultanına bağlı olarak görev aldı. Altın ve gümüş paraların ve madalyaların desenlerini, kalıp ve modellerini hazırlayan Robertson, 1850'lerden itibaren fotoğrafçılıkla da ilgilenmeye başladı. İstanbul'un ilk 360° panoramik fotoğraflarını çekti. A new book published as part of the Istanbul Municipality Culture Association’s “Istanbul’s Faces Series” explores the presentation of Istanbul on the silver screen. 

Researcher and writer Semra Kır has prepared the title, which gathers together the many movies and books that took place in Istanbul. “100 Films of Istanbul” reveals both the popular and the unknown movies on Istanbul, and has been published to mark the 99th year of Turkish cinema. 

The book focuses on Istanbul’s beauty and its reflection in films and books over the years, focusing on such popular locations as the Galata Bridge, the Princes’ Islands, the Bosphorus Strait, Rumeli Hisarı, the Grand Bazaar, Haydarpaşa Train Station, Eminönü, Balat, and Beyoğlu.
