Turkey has a new culture and arts venue that was recently opened in the central Anatolian province of Eskişehir. The Atatürk Culture and Arts Center, constructed by the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, was opened at the weekend with a concert by renowned jazz artist Fatih Erkoç. He was accompanied by the Eskişehir Symphony Orchestra at the concert.

Artist creates portraits with Eskişehir’s unique mineral

Meerschaum master Mehmet Başsav has been involved with this art for half a century. A candidate for UNESCO’s Living Human Treasure, His goal is to open courses to train new apprentices

Mehmet Başsav, a meerschaum portrait artist from the central Anatolian province of Eskişehir, has been a candidate for the Living Human Treasure awarded by UNESCO, as well as the traditional Turkish handicraft artist by the Culture and Tourism. 

Working on meerschaum for 52 years, Başsav has so far created lots of products such as pipe, miniature bust, sculpture, mask and reliefs.

Eskişehir'de Blues Festivali


Blues müziğinin tanınmış isimleri, 24'üncüsü düzenlenen "Blues Festivali" kapsamında 13'üncü konserlerini Eskişehir'de verdi.

Bir eğlence merkezinde düzenlenen konserde Jimmy Burns Band, Katherine Davis ile Joe Louis Walker ve grubu sahne aldı.

Konserde ilk olarak Jimmy Burns Band sahne aldı. Topluluğa ünlü blues gitaristi David Antonio Herrero eşlik etti. Herrero'nun elektro gitarla yaptığı gösteriye Yalçın Karausta'nın bağlama ile eşlik etmesi ise beğeni topladı.

Konser, gospel ve boogie jazz tarzlarının önde gelen vokalisti Katherine Davis'in şarkılarını seslendirmesiyle devam etti.
